Chapter Seven

Hunters! What the fuck? How had they found this place?

Tybalt was seething with angry, red rage, and his heart thumped in terror.

An omega had been shot, one that had been standing so close to Jules, the pup, and Remus. Had the target been Jules? Was it all of the humans? Or was the sniper just picking off as many as he could before his reinforcements came along to finish off the rest?

Tybalt was taking no chances. He grabbed Scott’s wrist and yanked him along, away from any danger. He hoped.

He took his mate back to his cabin.

“Wait! What’s going on! Who’s attacking us?” Scott yelled.

The man’s eyes were wide with panic as he whipped his head around, searching for wherever the threat was coming from.

Tybalt yanked his mate inside of their cabin and shut the doors behind him. He immediately went to all of the windows and drew the curtains.

“You stay here. Keep away from the windows and stay low.”

“Who’s shooting us?” Scott demanded, that panic taking him over. He was losing control, and that wasn’t going to help anyone. “I thought this place was hidden!”

Tybalt grabbed his mate by the shoulders, forcing Scott to look him in the eyes after a quick shake. “Listen to me! I don’t know who’s out there, but it doesn’t matter. What matters is they are attacking us, and I need you to stay here. I can’t do this with you in danger. Do you understand me?”

Scott stared at him, trembling, his eyes wide and probably not having heard a single thing that Tybalt said.

“Tell me you understand!” Tybalt snapped, shaking him again. He couldn’t lose him again!

Scott nodded. “I…I understand.”

Tybalt nodded. Relieved. “Good.” He kissed Scott quickly on the mouth and then pulled back. “I’ll come back for you. All right?”

Scott nodded, and that was the best Tybalt could do for now.

“Lock the door behind me,” he said and then pushed the door open and ran out into the chaos.

Betas were organizing the omegas, trying to get them to safer places where they couldn’t be shot at. Alphas were rushing into the woods, searching out the wolf who was distracting them and the gunman.

Two betas flew backward, one after the other, blood spatter and brain matter flying out from the backs of their heads. Another howl, and this time it was much closer.

Whoever it was, they were separating the alphas. Two smaller groups were easier to handle than one larger one. It was smart, assuming that whoever it was on the attack knew what they were doing.

Which, from the looks of things, they did.

Another shifter dropped. This one an omega male. Kid couldn’t have been older than twenty.

Tybalt was getting pissed off.

Most of the pack, those unable to fight, were making it indoors where they would be safe from the bullets. Some turned into their wolf shapes and ran to find shelter in the woods. With them out of the way, the betas rushed to help the injured while others went to join the alphas to hunt down whoever it was that was attacking them.
